Five Zero Trees Dispensary (Astoria)
Astoria, OR
More than a dispensary, this is a place to learn about Oregon's marijuana industry.
The Five Zero Trees brand draws its roots in the Pacific Northwest and nothing is more PNW than the historic coastal town of Astoria. The experience starts with a view of an iconic mural of the Megler Bridge.
Wood screens with corrugated translucent plastic are integrated to visually conceal the retail space while allowing daylight into the space.
Heavy steel and chunky salvaged wood recall the prevalence of the fishing and timber industries of the area.
Taking advantage of Astoria’s present status as a tourist destination. One that is provides more than a sale, but also an educational hub for cannabis.
Design for this project includes a second phase that expands the exhibition hall down the full length of the building and along a display grow. The hallway is oversized to allow room for interpretive displays and gathering. New colonnades reinforce the existing column bay, along with angled walls that create larger pockets for gathering and break up the long, linear space. This expansion creates more of a tourist destination that the client originally envisioned. This second phase is currently unbuilt.
